With Special Edition, Baldo Martínez reaffirms his position as one of the leading figures in contemporary jazz in Spain and one of the most distinctive and adventurous voices in European improvised music. Joined by Román Filiú, Chema Saiz and Pier Bruera, he brings together an outstanding ensemble that transforms the stage into a sonic laboratory, combining collective improvisation, contrasting timbres and folk roots reimagined through an organic, open-minded and uncompromising modern approach.

Throughout his extensive career, Baldo Martínez has collaborated with leading figures in contemporary music and jazz, including Joachim Kühn, Kenny Wheeler, Louis Sclavis, Maria João, Paolo Fresu, Samuel Blaser, Dominique Pifarely and Jorge Pardo, among others.

Edición Especial was warmly received at the latest edition of the Madrid International Jazz Festival. This new project also follows the recent release of Música Imaginaria, his acclaimed sextet work, conceived as part of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival’s Carta Blanca programme and subsequently presented at major venues, including the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
