Bobby Martínez (Philadelphia) is a saxophonist, flutist, composer, and big band director.
Throughout his long musical career, he has shared the stage with figures such as Paquito D’Rivera, Tony Lakatos, Richie Cole, Pat Metheny, Paco de Lucia, Julio Iglesias, Joe Williams, Perico Sambeat, Chris Kase, Pepe Rivero, Miguel Ríos, Ana Belén, and many others.
Born into a Cuban family exiled to the United States, he began playing the saxophone at the age of 6 under the guidance of Rolando Lluís. At the age of 11, he was hired by Venezuelan host Amador Bendayán, thus beginning his career as a professional musician. Four years later, he went to Miami Dade Community College to study with John Georgini. During this period, he was part of the Miami Sound Machine with Gloria Estefan, as well as other bands such as Paragon, Secret Society, and Willy Chirino. After finishing his training period in Miami, he continued his studies in New York with Eddie Daniels. In 1996, he arrived in Madrid, where he combines his musical career with extensive teaching activity, giving master classes and seminars throughout Europe and working at the most prestigious institutions in the city.
