Born in Matanzas, Cuba, in 1978, Ricardo Izquierdo began his musical studies on the cello before turning to the saxophone. After studying at Havana’s prestigious National School of Arts, he moved to Paris in 2001, where he has collaborated with some of the leading figures in jazz. As a bandleader, his albums Ida, ANTS and Kikun Pelu Mi Wá have received international critical acclaim.
He is joined by Bobby Martínez, an American saxophonist, flautist and composer, born in Philadelphia in 1961 to a Cuban family. Based in Madrid since the late 1990s, he is a prominent figure on Spain’s jazz and Latin jazz scene and a familiar face at Café Central, where he has performed on numerous occasions.
