The Gut Buckets is a band that distills street spirit and tradition with a raw, festive, and character-filled sound. At the front, Emma Gowing combines her voice with the banjo, setting the pulse between the melodic and the rhythmic. Fran Fernández brings body and energy with the guitar, while Carlos Luebbe colors each song with the expressiveness of the harmonica. At the base, Miguel C. Rubianes “El Chirly” holds down the groove with his distinctive washtub bass and Elena Jurado completes the ensemble with the washboard and backing vocals that reinforce the group’s collective identity. Together they create a vibrant blend that echoes the most primitive folk and the most authentic jug band, with a close and contagious attitude.
